Where in the World Do I Read???
Happy summer, Y'all!! Where in the world do I read? A lot of places as a matter of fact! Tonight I'm reading Glory Be by Augusta Scattergood while watching the Texas Rangers play (well, beat) the Oakland A's at The Ballpark in Arlington! It was a great book & an great game. I highly recommend this great piece of children's lit. Check out me getting my "reading on!" (Sonntag students! If you would like to submit a picture like this for our board in the fall, email me a copy of you reading to matteie@friscoisd.org.) Happy reading! :)

A big shout out goes to the newest inductees to the Texas Bluebonnet Award "Reading Hall of Fame!" Here are the students who met the Texas Bluebonnet Award reading challenge this year:
In an effort to motivate the students to meet the Texas Bluebonnet Award reading challenge, 5th Grade teacher Mr. Sinclair offered to let any student who met the challenge transform him into a 'Pretty Princess' during the last Good Morning Sonntag. Thank you Mr. Sinclair for taking one for the library team!
Don't forget you can read the books from the 2012 Texas Bluebonnet Award list as well as complete your Bluebonnet Buzz forms on this blog (see the button at the top of the blog) throughout the summer.
I hope everyone has a super summer! Happy reading! :)

This week the Sonntag students will celebrate Children's Book Week! There are fun activities planned for students and teachers to enjoy. Students will not only get to visit the library for a special, grade-specific read-aloud but they will also have the opportunity to read outside, participate in drawings for new books, as well as hear a mystery book read by me, Mrs. Mattei, during "Mrs. Mattei's Masterpiece Theater!"
Today's Sonntag Celebrates Children's Book Week activities included the announcement of the 2nd annual bookmark contest winners as well as "Read Across Sonntag." The students truly enjoyed these activities. Check out the winners of the bookmark contest:
The winners of the bookmark contest received a brand new book, bookmark, as well as had their original bookmark creations copied for the students across Sonntag. Also, check out some pictures from "Read Across Sonntag:"
