Book of the Day by Mrs Mattei

Looking for a new series to read? Check out Julie Sternberg's series Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie! If you like to read realistic fiction or have ever had things not quite go your way, this series is for you. Check it out! Happy reading! :o)

When eight-year-old Eleanor's beloved babysitter Bibi moves away to care for her ailing father, Eleanor must spend the summer adjusting to a new babysitter while mourning the loss of her old one.

Eleanor hates summer camp as much as she would hate having bug juice on her hamburger. There are icky bugs at camp, and the food is awful, and in swim class she feels humiliated because she can't swim.

A new girl at school throws nine-year-old Elanor's relationship with her best friend Pearl into disarray.

Book of the Day by Mrs. Mattei! Happy Friday!

Who doesn't love a great parade? I admit that I have watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade EVER year in its entirety ever since I was a little kid. I even DVR it just in case I am traveling to Thanksgiving dinner while the traditional Parade festivities are going on. Even though it's November, I discovered this amazing book within the Everybody section shelves. It's called Red, White, & Boom! by Lee Wardlaw and it talks about all of the festivities that occur in the United States on the 4th of July. I've also included the wonderful read-alike book Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Sweet. It's a wonderful book by a wonderful author...who will be visiting Sonntag in March! WEEE!! I hope you enjoy both reads! Happy reading! :)

by Lee Wardlaw

Depicts in sing-song rhyme the various ways that the Fourth of July is celebrated and the sights and sounds of the day.
