Year-in-Review: Sonntag Stats (2014-2015)

The 5th year in the life of the Sonntag library is now in the books (pun TOTALLY intended)!  The Sonntag Communtity is the reason why this library is so great. It is going to be amazing to watch how this library grows in year 6 and beyond!

*Hosted a "Book Blast" the first week of school to get books in the hands of Sonntag Readers as soon as school began 
*Promoted and maintained the Coyote Reading Club reading program for all Sonntag Readers
*Introduced a new "Birthday Books" library program to the Sonntag Community
*Coordinated the Frisco Public Library's annual Lone Star Storytelling Festival with our 4th graders
*Taught Sonntag Readers and teachers how to use MackinVia (online research tools)
*Celebrated International Dot Day with Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd graders
*Launched the first-ever 4th & 5th grade Library Crew (library helpers)
*Introduced month-long author studies Dr. Seuss (March) & Amy Krouse Rosenthal (April) with all Sonntag Readers (more to come in 2015-2016)
*Collaborated with the librarian at Isbell Elementary to conduct a storytime at a Frisco ISD special program campus

Library Stats: December Edition

Happy New Year, Readers!!! What does this mean for me? I am resolving to read even more this year! I was able to meet my goal of reading 350 books in 2014 (Happy dance!!). In 2015 I made my goal to read 365 books. Who wants to join me??  :)

Library Stats: October Edition


October not only brought cooler weather but it was also an action-packed month! From the fall Scholastic Book Fair and the Texas Library Association's annual Library Snapshot Day to our weekly Preschool Storytimes for future Sonntag students, our students, staff, and parents "fell" into great books all month! The Sonntag Library participated in the Texas Library Association's annual Library Snapshot Day. This is a designated day in the month of October that allows a library to take a "snapshot" in the day in their life in order to promote libraries across the great state of Texas. The Sonntag Library participated back in 2012. Check out what happened in the 2014 snapshot!
