Six Flags Read to Succeed Is Back!

Attention Cockrell Readers!!

The Six Flags Read to Succeed program is back!! You will receive a log from your homeroom teacher the week of January 8th. All you need to do is read 6 hours between now and February 15th, record your hours on the log, have your parents sign your log, and return it to your teacher. Boom! You will receive your ticket in May!

Kwami Alexander Author Visit!!

Welcome back, Cockrell Community!!

A new school year means another great author is coming to Prosper!

Award-winning poet Kwami Alexander is coming to Prosper ISD on Monday, October 1st in honor of the Prosper ISD One District, One Read event. It will be a unique event will be a pep rally for poetry (more details will be released soon).

To prepare for the event, Prosper ISD is hosting a district-wide poetry contest. If you would like to participate, all entries are due to the Cockrell library no later than September 17th. To access a paper & electronic entry form (either are accepted), click the links below:

Six Flags Read to Succeed 2017-2018!!

Attention Cockrell Readers!! 

Six Flags Read to Succeed is upon us! Be on the lookout for your official 2017-2018 Six Flags Read to Succeed reading log. Read to Succeed is a super-easy reading program to participate in. YOU can earn a FREE ticket to Six Flags Over Texas by just simply reading the books you love! As you read, be sure to track 6 hours of reading on your log and turn in your completed and signed log to your teacher by February 15th to participate. 

Need an extra copy of the six Flags Reading Log or the parent information sheet? Click the following links:

Remember, all completed and signed logs are due to your teacher NO LATER than Friday, February 15th. Late submissions are not guaranteed a ticket!! 

If you have any questions, or need a new log, please contact your teacher or Mrs. Mattei, Cockrelll Librarian, at esmattei@prosper-isd.net. Tickets will arrive and be distributed in May 2018. Happy reading!

Preschool Story Time is Almost Here!!

Attention Cockrell Community! 

If you have a Cockrell student AND a wee one, please join the us in the Cockrell library for a weekly story time starting Wednesday, September 20th from 10:00-10:30. We will hear great stories, sing songs, and work on some fun activities. Our Wee Readers will even be able to check out their own books, too!

Happy summer, Sonntag Community!

It is with a heavy heart [and a heavy shelf marker...see picture above] that I tell you that I am moving on from Sonntag Elementary this summer. It has been such a privilege and pleasure serving as the Sonntag librarian for the past 7 years. I am so thankful for all who I have taught, worked with, and connected with. I've learned so much from each and every Reader who has walked through the doors of Sonntag Elementary. 

I am not going far. I will be moving north to Prosper ISD as an elementary Library Media Specialist. This blog will continue to serve as my way to get the word out about the love of reading and learning. Even though this blog, my Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram accounts may look different, you will still be able to connect with me there. 

I thank you for all of your love and support throughout the past 7 years. I look forward to seeing how this amazing Sonntag Community grows!! Happy reading!! :o)
