Book of the Day by Mrs. Mattei!

If there is anyone out there in the reading community who is making a trip to London, England someday a soon, please feel free to bring a librarian-sized suitcase with some water and crackers in it with them... I will be inside. ;o)

In the meantime, I will be re-reading A Walk in London by Salvatore Rubbino. It is a story about a mom and daughter who are taking an exciting trip to London. Throughout the book, the author included fun and lesser-known facts about this historical city. If you love to travel, this book is a great read for you! :o)

by Salvatore Rubbino

Readers are invited to come along on a mother-daughter day trip to London as they wend their way past the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, through Trafalgar Square, and on to Covent Garden. Includes a fold-out surprise.

#sonntagmakes

What a great day to be in the Sonntag Library!! Last November, Sonntag students participated in a contest to see which class could earn the most Dojo points for amazing library skills. Mrs. Rogers' first grade class won top prize!! Today, her class came to the library and participated in an exciting makerspace activity!. The students built catapults out of rubber bands and Popsicle sticks.  They compared which objects (eraser tops, bottle caps, and cotton balls) would fly the furthest. The kids had a BLAST!!!

Do you dream of becoming a famous rock star someday but don't know how??? Today's book of the day is just for YOU! Check it out!

So You Want to Be a Rock Star

by Audrey Vernick

So you want to be a rock star, huh? Well, first you'll need an awesome vintage electric guitar. Don't have one of those? That's okay. All you need to do is to close your eyes and strum with your right hand. Oh, and make a face like your stomach really hurts. Can't sing? No problem! Your voice doesn't need to be perfect. Just really loud.
Perfect for young fans of Rock Band and the Disney pop stars,So You Want to Be a Rock Starwill teach budding musicians all they need to know about becoming a bona fide rock star, and the interactive text will keep their parents rocking--and laughing--too!

Six Flags Read to Succeed 2K16

Attention all Sonntag Readers! The Six Flags Read to Succeed program has arrived again and is in full swing! You should have received your parent letter as well as your reading logs. If you need another copy, please see your teacher or stop by the library at any time.

It's simple! Read for 6 hours or 360 minutes, track your reading minutes on your log, have your parents sign your log, and return your log to your teacher on or before the due date.

All completed & signed reading logs are due to your teacher by Friday, February 19, 2016 in order to receive your FREE Six Flags ticket (one per student/log & Sonntag students only). No exceptions on late logs can be made because of the rules set forth by Six Flags.

Please note that tickets will not be distributed until they arrive in May. Tickets will be given through your students' homeroom teachers. If you have any questions or need a new copy of the official reading log, please email Mrs. Mattei at matteie@friscoisd.org or click here for more information. Happy reading! :)
